Why we certify through
the World Yoga Federation.
We are a small school in Salt Lake City, and our teacher training began in 2013. We certify through the World Yoga Federation, and we are not registered with Yoga Alliance. That is a choice we made, and here is how we see it.
What we teach comes through lineage. Rachel and Eric are both authorized to teach Ashtanga primary and second series, through Manju Jois, and both studied Vinyasa Krama with Srivatsa Ramaswami. A certifying body that welcomes every tradition fits a school built that way.
Yoga Alliance is a registry, not an accreditation. Our graduates get insured and get hired to teach. The two systems are separate: a World Yoga Federation certificate does not qualify you to register with Yoga Alliance, just as a Yoga Alliance registration does not earn you a World Yoga Federation certification.
We respect the schools and teachers who register, and plenty of good teachers do. If a studio you hope to teach at asks for Yoga Alliance by name, write to Rachel before you enroll and she will give you a straight answer.
